How often should I have my Fire alarm serviced?

In line with BS5839 .  A Fire Alarm system should be service every 6 months, achieving 100% test completion over a 12 month period.

A security system requires maintenance to ensure all software, is up to date, increase longevity of the system and give you complete piece of mind that a professional has fully interrogated the system health and advised against environmental changes and how they impact your system

My Automatic/electric gates have failed, what can I do?

I already have an alarm, should I have CCTV as well?

CCTV has brilliant deterrent values, if you can prevent a burglary from even taking place by having both a working, modern alarm system & a comprehensive CCTV system then it is a worthwhile investment.

What is alarm monitoring & Should I have a monitored system?

A monitored system gives you the capability for external keyholders, police or the fire brigade to be notified upon activation, saving time in event of emergency, however there are monthly costs to consider. For more advice, give us a call on 01843 278227

How often should I have an FRA done?

Annually, unless you’ve had recent renovation or extension works then it should be sooner, to ensure your previous assessment is still relevant.

I have 240v smoke detectors will that be enough to pass my FRA?

In some instances, yes, however if the assessor deems it necessary to have a Fire Alarm then you must oblige.

No, not necessarily, they are dependent on the nature of the building and the level of risk, your recent FRA should advise you whether you need one. Are dummy systems effective?

We do not recommend dummy systems, most burglars can easily tell the difference between legitimate security systems and dummy equipment.

Yes, we believe in future proofing and leaving room for expansion of the system. Wireless technology makes this an easier intergration down the line.

How quickly can I get a system installed?

Our lead time varies, however we would expect to be able to complete the job within two weeks of order acknowledgement.

How long does it take to install a security system?

Depends on the complexity of the system, most domestic properties we would expect to take 1-2 days. More complex systems we would factor in more time.

Will an engineers visit disrupt my business?

We will work with you to ensure engineering visits cause the least amount of disruption to your business as possible.

What is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005?

The RRFSO is a legislative document that helps to simplify the requirements of your organisation or individuals within said organistaion to comply with current fire regulations, it helps to identify, control and reduce the risk and the severity of fire.

What is BS5839 Part 1?

BS5839- 1 :2017 Is the British Standard that specifically relates to the design, installation, comissioning and maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems, it is the guidleines that we adhere to when undertaking any type of fire alarm works.

What work does an engineer carry out on a maintenance visit?

Maintenance visits include a full comprehensive systenm test to ensure the systemn is effective and satisfactory, our engineers will also keep all relevant documentation up to date and assess the site for environmental changes that may affect how effective your system is.
